November 4, 2021 (Midlothian, Virginia) – C&F Mortgage Corporation is pleased to announce the addition of three new members to our Loan Officer Training School. Bill Morris, Heath Rivers and Joshua Clark joined the C&F Mortgage team last month to begin or strengthen their careers in the mortgage industry. Morris comes from a career on Wall Street spending over 20 years within financial markets. Rivers brings a different perspective to the team with experience in the insurance industry, and Clark comes with a background in housing policy development.

C&F Mortgage’s Loan Officer Training School was founded in 2015 by Mike Mazzola, Senior Vice President, as an opportunity to educate quality, sales driven originators by focusing on the efficiency of originations at a high producing rate. The Loan Officer Training School provides an opportunity to individuals who want to enter the mortgage industry while providing C&F Mortgage the opportunity to build a sales force from the ground up. With a career in mortgage lending, learning never ends.

Throughout the course, trainees build mentorships within the company, earn NMLS licensing, build a business network portfolio, learn lending guidelines, calculations, and qualifying standards and build an in-depth understanding of the mortgage market to generate volume. For the first two years after schooling, graduates are mentored to be strategically pushed from their comfort zones and drive business.

“At C&F Mortgage, we strive to provide the best support for our sales team to grow their business and present the best financing opportunities to our borrowers,” Mazzola states. “With our Loan Officer Training School, we are able to expand those capabilities combined with exceptional operations staff to support our continued growth throughout the region.”

Bill Morris:

Bill Morris began his career in government bond sales and transitioned to working with hedge funds in New York City. In 2003, Morris joined BB&T Capital Markets where he helped the company launch a trading desk in NYC. Morris then moved his family to Richmond, and recently joined the team at C&F Mortgage.

Morris was drawn to C&F Mortgage because of its reputation for strong community relationships, the extensive training program, and the fact that the entire home financing process is facilitated in-house. He is motivated by his ability to produce great results for his clients and hopes to continue that trend at C&F. In addition to serving clients in the mortgage industry, Morris’s greatest achievement is his family. He enjoys spending time with family and friends listening to live music, watching sports, and eating good food!

Heath Rivers:

After graduating from Radford University, Heath Rivers spent time in the insurance industry helping families achieve financial stability in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Rivers is leveraging his interests in finance and the ever-changing real-estate market to transition him to a new career as a mortgage loan officer.

Rivers chose to become a loan officer at C&F Mortgage because of its reputation in the mortgage industry. He thrives on setting goals and working hard to achieve them in both his personal and professional life. Additionally, Rivers hopes to build on the knowledge and expertise of his C&F teammates to exceed borrower expectations.

Joshua Clark:

A lifelong resident of the Hampton Roads area, Joshua Clark is excited to return home and begin his mortgage career with C&F. With a background in housing policy development and having dedicated his professional life to making homes affordable for everyday people, Clark hopes to use these experiences to help buyers navigate the home financing process.

Clark decided to become a loan officer with C&F because of its local presence and his drive to make his community a better place to live- something he hopes to accomplish as he settles into his new role. When he is not helping homebuyers, Joshua enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

“We are excited to welcome Bill, Heath and Joshua to our team of local industry experts and know they will help us continue to exceed expectations,” stated Bryan McKernon, President of C&F Mortgage Corporation.

C&F Mortgage welcomes these new loan officers and is excited to see a bright future from another successful Loan Officer Training School class.
