April 18, 2022 (Midlothian, Virginia) – C&F Mortgage Corporation is pleased to announce the addition of three new members to our Loan Officer Training School. Betty Davis, David Nelson and Margaret Long joined the C&F Mortgage team last month to begin their careers in the mortgage industry. Betty Davis has a history in banking, including a Branch Manager position at C&F Bank, and we are excited to welcome her back to C&F. David Nelson has a background in sales, most recently as a sales representative at Audi. Margaret Long joins the team with 20 years of experience in the lending business.
C&F Mortgage’s Loan Officer Training School was founded in 2015 by Mike Mazzola, Senior Vice President, as an opportunity to educate quality, sales driven originators by focusing on the efficiency of originations at a high producing rate. The Loan Officer Training School provides an opportunity to individuals who want to enter the mortgage industry while providing C&F Mortgage the opportunity to build a sales force from the ground up. With a career in mortgage lending, learning never ends.
Throughout the course, trainees build mentorships within the company, earn NMLS licensing, build a business network portfolio, learn lending guidelines, calculations, and qualifying standards and build an in-depth understanding of the mortgage market to generate volume. For the first two years after schooling, graduates are mentored to be strategically pushed from their comfort zones and drive business.
Betty Davis:
With over 30 years in the retail banking industry, Betty brings valuable experience to the C&F Mortgage Glen Allen Branch team. As a member of the Powhatan Chamber of Commerce, she looks forward to growing relationships and giving back to the community she has served for many years.
Betty was drawn to C&F because of its great reputation. She has a passion for helping others and feels rewarded when assisting people with their financial needs. Betty’s greatest achievement is her children, who would describe her as funny, outgoing, and caring.
David Nelson:
David joined the C&F Mortgage Midlothian Branch after receiving recommendations from mortgage professionals and hearing positive feedback throughout the community. After meeting with the team at C&F, David knew it would be a great place to grow his mortgage career. He finds motivation in setting goals and obtaining great results and is looking forward to exceeding expectations in his new role.
Prior to starting his sales career, David spent time as an outdoor guide doing various 30–60-day trips in Western Carolina and Colorado. One of his greatest accomplishments was summitting three different 14er’s over the course of a month. David hopes to use this strong will in his career and looks forward to helping homebuyers ‘summit the mountain’ of home financing.
Margaret Long:
A Maryland transplant, Margaret Long, moved to Virginia and fell in love. With 20 years in the lending business as well as sales and relationship management for real estate staging in Richmond, Margaret is excited to strengthen her knowledge as a member of the Loan Officer Training School. Margaret chose the C&F Mortgage Glen Allen Branch because of their market leadership and commitment to the training phase of launching a new career in mortgage lending.
Her love for others is her main motivator, and she is thrilled to help to borrowers on their journey to homeownership. When she is not serving others, Margaret builds websites for friends, raises Connemara ponies, trail rides, and is an avid quilter.
